4 Reasons to Celebrate with Shandon College Ministry
Last week was a fun and fruitful 7 days of reaching out to a new class of freshmen at USC, Columbia College, Midlands Tech, and other area universities! We want to celebrate with you four highlights of our week.
1. Over 1,300 students came to Blatt Block Party on Tuesday!
Thank you so much to the many adult volunteers who drove shuttles, flipped burgers, and did the "heavy lifting" to make this possible. You set us up for success beyond what you know or see.
2. Nearly at capacity at our new building for our first ever worship service!
Thank you so much to our incredible modern worship team and production team for putting so much heart and effort into an incredible night. It was amazing to see students start their new school year by worshiping our great God.
Awesome night of students committing the year ahead to God's plan and purposes through worship at Lighthouse 2121, our new college building in Five Points! What a way to start the new school year and open the building for ministry. Can't wait to see what God has in store for our @shandoncollege students! Thanks to @andrewsmithcarr and the modern worship band for leading this powerful night of worship!
3. We connected with at least 5,000 students in 3 days of tabling on Greene Street!
Thank you so much to our incredible student team for not giving up and for putting in the hours to connect with students in that "famously hot" humidity.
4. Our on-campus Sunday School class in Russell House, doubled from last year!
In just 2 years, this class has grown from 15 to 52! One of the class leaders, Billy Judge, told me he had to "leave the room" for a bit because he was moved to tears at the Lord's work and presence. God is so good!
What is so great about these statistics is that they are just a small indication of the depth and quality of the students in our college ministry.
As we start the semester, we will be launching several new Sunday School environments, a mid-week worship experience, and almost 20 community groups.
Spirits are high because we believe the Lord is at work in and through us. Shandon College Ministry has hosted 14 events in one week, but we are "abounding in the work of the Lord," as Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15.
Please pray that we would be faithful to the gospel this semester my reaching and making disciples at our area universities this semester!!
