You Don't Have to Quit Your Job to be a Missionary

main image

How could I ever be considered a missionary?

Have you thought that before?

Missionaries aren’t necessarily those who have a special calling from God.  I believe God has called all followers of Christ to take up the mantle of letting the whole world know about Jesus.

More than ever before in history, secular companies are having a global influence.  They are sending employees overseas to work in large, exciting cities like Prague, Dubai, and London.  Could it be that this economic globalization is part of God’s plan to get His gospel around the world?  I think so!

Does living abroad excite you?  Would the possibility of using your professional skills to open the door to missions opportunities intrigue you?

This Wednesday night, September 23, a special guest from the International Mission Board will talk about how this can be a real possibility for you.  I hope you’ll join us at 6:30pm in room A209 to hear how God could use your job and skill set to be a missionary overseas.

September 19: Loving Our Neighbors in Ways They Can Hear

main image

On Saturday, September 19, Shandon will shout as loud as we can that Jesus loves the Columbia area.  Will you be a part of our voice?

Each year, Shandon sets aside one Saturday in the fall to work on small and big projects for our neighbors and ministry partners.  From cleaning schools to building build wheelchair ramps to feeding first responders and visiting nursing homes, this is a great opportunity for our community to see that Shandon is not a place that says, “Come to our building," but rather a living body of believers who proclaim through our actions that Jesus has changed our lives.

Because of His gospel and through this new life that He’s given us, we want to be a blessing to others.

Some come and join us on Saturday morning, September 19!  Many projects are kid-friendly and a great way to introduce your kids to serving in the name of Jesus.

If you’re in a Sunday School class, sign up to participate with your class’ project.  If you’re not a part of a Sunday School class, you can sign up in the Gathering Place or online to help out with the churchwide project at Meadowfield Elementary School.

Don't forget to pick up your free T-shirt in the Gathering Place and wear it on September 19.
