All my ministry, I have believed that when we worship, God has promised His presence. Look at this scripture…
But You are holy, O You who dwell in the holy place
where the praises of Israel are offered
– Psalm 22:3
Each Sunday, we gather with well over 2000 people to worship and it is evident each week that God is there in a powerful way! Recently, I was in a Worship Development Seminar that was organized by Kristen Brantley on our Worship Staff. I asked those who were there, if they were going to prepare to be Worship Leaders, what was their definition of worship? Seems like an easy question, but putting it into words is more difficult that you might think. Here’s mine…
- Responding with all that I am to all that God is (whether I feel like it or not!)
One of the exciting things here at Shandon is that there are so many opportunities for people to worship and lead in Worship! Regardless of what service you attend, there are positions ranging from vocal to instrumental to technical! This month of April is all about serving in the Worship Ministry!
This month we really want to open the choir and orchestra to those that may be interested! We rehearse on Wednesday Nights at 6:30 so let us know when you’re coming and we will roll out the red carpet! Orchestra requires an easy audition to establish skill level and choir is simply to come and experience and I will follow up with any questions you might have.Choir – Scott Lee (
) Orchestra – John Blair (
- Modern Band is by audition and you can contact the worship office to set something up. Email Kristen Brantley (
) or Andrew Carr (
) and they would love to reach back out to you. We also have a Worship Development track for those that want to develop into Worship Leaders and we would love to talk with you about that as well!
- Technical Arts is a great way to get plugged in and doesn’t require any previous experience! As we have upped our game in Live Streaming and in the Worship Center, we need trainable people with a great heart for ministry. Last week alone, over 250 people experienced the service that couldn’t be here in person… thanks to our Technical Arts volunteers. The contact for tech volunteers is Steve Dirks (
- Worship Arts Center – In the Worship Arts Center, we teach private and group lessons in about every area of the arts. Our hope is to take a person wherever their skill level is and help develop them into a confident worshipper and possibly worship leader. If you are interested or if you know of anyone outside our church that may be looking for these types of lessons in a safe and Christ centered environment, have them contact Nancy Kendall (
Take a quick minute and go to our webpage (www.Shandon.org/worship) and find out about all the other opportunities for worship including Kids Choirs, Kids Worship Team, Student Music and Sr. Adults! Shandon is known for a lot of things, so let’s make sure that we are known as a worshipping church as well! Plug in this month!
