In an attempt to show the love of Jesus through practical acts of kindness, from time to time during the year projects are scheduled that enable Shandon members to do hands-on ministry in the community.
COLUMBIA AREA PARTNERSHIPS
Heartworks Ministry is an inner city ministry directed by Shandon member Sandee Hensley. Heartworks focuses on teaching and showing inner city children the love of Christ, while seeking to improve academic performance and social skills.
Volunteer opportunities for Shandon members: Serving snacks, providing transportation, mentoring, tutoring, life-skill training, Bible teaching, office volunteers, recreation, maintenance, cleaning, and handyman projects.

Daybreak Ministries provides ministry to individuals and their families involved in crisis pregnancy situations. Focus is given to saving the lives of pre-born children, preserving the health of expectant mothers, post-abortion counseling, and evangelizing and discipling expectant mothers and their family members.
Volunteer opportunities for Shandon members: Counselors and hotline volunteers, assistance with clothes closets, post-abortion Bible studies, parenting classes, office assistance, nursing assistance, and maintenance and handyman projects.

Oliver Gospel Mission is a downtown Columbia ministry which provides spiritual and practical help to poor and neglected men – especially to the homeless. It also provides recovery programs to those individuals seeking to escape the lifestyle in which they find themselves captive.
Volunteer opportunities for Shandon members: Serving meals, conducting chapel services, mentoring, tutoring, life skill training, Bible teaching/discipleship classes, office volunteers, mass mailing assistance, maintenance and handyman projects.
