Our Ministry
Shandon Baptist Church as been ministering to international students and adults in Columbia through Conversational English Classes and Citizenship Prep Classes since 1965. These classes, held on Sunday afternoons at 4pm, are free to Internationals and their children, and our teachers and staff work strictly as volunteers.
Our Students
During the 2009 school year, we served students from 21 nations. Many of our students are in Columbia for college or military traning, some are visiting scholars, and others are resident aliens working in this country. Still others are internationals preparing for the citizenship exam.
Our Program
Shandon Internationals offers free Conversational English and Citizenship Prep classes on Sunday afternoons during the school year. Classes for children ages 6-11 and nursery for children younger than 6 are available free of charge for children of International students. A free meal is provided after class.
Transportation is available to Shandon from USC, West Columbia, and North East Columbia.
