It's My Lucky Day

I am excited about the opportunity to blog. I hope it will be a blessing in your life as a parent. Parenting is hard work and yet so rewarding.  I hope this blog will give you some new things to think about, as you parent your precious gifts from God.

I love talking to kids.  They keep me real and grounded in my big adult life.  I was talking to some four year olds today.  They were sharing with me the exciting things they had done in preschool.  They made a candy house aka gingerbread house.  They wrote their name.  They played with friends.  They made a nativity.  They all chimed in at the same time with excitement. As we began to finish up the conversation one of them stopped and said, “It’s my lucky day."  I proceeded to ask why, and in the matter of fact way that four year olds can be, she said," I am lucky because I had a chance to celebrate Jesus today." "What?" I said. She answered," I moved Jesus around my nativity set. I sang Him, Happy Birthday. We just hung out! It's my lucky day."  This little girl has some great parents.  Parents who have helped her understand the importance of time spent with Jesus.  I can bet they have modeled for her excitement in reading God's word, excitement in prayer time, excitement in going to church, and excitement in having Jesus everyday in their life. Hanging out with her Baby Jesus, made out of a clothespin, was so exciting.  It made her day lucky.  Her parents probably were not aware of how she had watched them and their relationship with Jesus, but when the chance came for her to hold her Baby Jesus, it became real in her life. She knew how lucky she was.   Parenting tip:  Your day to day life examples are huge in your child’s life.
