Real Connections

Shandon Baptist Church Women's Ministry Mentoring

OUR PURPOSE

The “REAL Connections” Spiritual Mentoring Ministry will seek to foster relationship development and spiritual growth. Women who are more spiritually mature in their walk as a follower of Christ serve as a role model, friend and imitators of Christ in the lives of other women. The focus is developing a personal/lasting relationship with women, that is a source of support, growth and strength while helping them to grow in their walk and relationship with Christ.

OUR APPROACH

The ministry uses a mentoring relationship model that typically will be 1 mentor/1-2 mentees. The length of the relationship commitment is six months. There are two opportunities to apply to enter into a mentoring relationship each year: a spring (March- August) and a fall (September - February) entry. The number of mentees accepted will be determined according to the availability of trained mentors.

EXPECTATIONS OF CONNECTION

  • Meet together in person a minimum of once per month (suggested weekly or bi-weekly)
  • Connect in person or by phone at least bi-weekly
  • Beyond that, mentors/mentees are free to choose their own structure for their meeting time. Some may choose a curriculum or Bible study; others may choose a less formal approach.
  • The semester culminates in a Mentoring Celebration. Other events may be scheduled to foster connections.

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
