It is a true privilege to write this post and thank you for the amazing welcome our family has received. You have received us into the family with hospitality and grace. It would be difficult to adequately express the range of emotions that our family has experienced in the last month. Joy, fear, excitement, wonder, and gratitude are just the tip of the iceberg. Packing up and moving away from all our family has known for the last 10 years was no easy task but the love and grace that we have received from you has made this season of transition a true gift for the Wright’s. You have demonstrated a compassion and kindness that can only be defined as the people of God following the example of Christ. It has truly been an amazing display of Gospel hospitality. In Romans 15 the Apostle Paul makes this charge to the church;
“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God” – Romans 15:5-7
This is what our family has experienced from you! We have stepped into a faith family that is devoted to living together in harmony for the sake of the Gospel! We have been exceedingly encouraged by your encouragement! We have seen you stand together with one voice for the Glory of God and we have been welcomed in a true Christ like manner. Our family will be forever grateful to be part of the Shandon family!
It is my prayer that the welcome we have received as your pastor will continually be the welcome that is offered and experienced by those who join the Shandon family. What a joy it is to be invited into a Church family that understands and recognizes the gift of the Gospel that has invited us into the family of God. May we continue to be a people that offers this Gospel hospitality to all who join us. May we continue to live with open hands and open hearts to all who are searching and longing for a home. May we continue to be a picture of the love and grace we have received from our Lord and Savior.
It has only been a few weeks but we can honestly say we love you and we feel like we are home!
Thank you for loving us so well and praying for us so earnestly. With joy and excitement we look forward to many years of fruitful ministry together as we lift high the name of Jesus in the city we love!
For His Glory,
George, Megan, Mckenna, Brody, Anna Beth, & Everett Wright
