Introducing George Wright for recommendation as Shandon's new Senior Pastor

George Wright was born a preacher's kid in Houston, Texas, but spent most of his childhood growing up in Marietta, Georgia. As a young child he learned the foundation of the Gospel: that Jesus loves him and demonstrates His love by dying on the cross for our sin. With this understanding in elementary school, George placed his faith in Christ and had the privilege of being baptized by his dad.

His faith continued to grow throughout high school and into college (he attended the University of South Carolina). As God called him into ministry at the end of his time at Carolina, he began to pray that God would use him to reach people who needed to hear the good news of the Gospel but did not know they were welcomed and loved by God. George's desire is to consistently point to the beautiful good news of God's grace for sinners.

Pastor Wright graduated from Southwestern Seminary and is the founding and senior pastor at Cedarcrest Church in the Atlanta-metro area where he has been serving for the past 10 years.

George met his wife Megan at USC, and they were married in 2001. They have four children: McKenna, Brody, Anna Beth, and Everett.

Dear Church Family,

The members of the transition team could not be more excited to present George Wright as the man we believe God has called to become the next pastor of Shandon Baptist Church.

It has been a significant spiritual journey for each one of us as we have prayed, researched, discussed, interviewed, and sought the Lord during this very crucial transition for our church. We are all amazed at how God has worked to lead us to this point. You can learn more about our journey and George Wright in the video below.

Please note the following key dates, as we hope our church family will be present to give their full support both as we say goodbye to our beloved Dick & Patty Lincoln and as we welcome our new pastor and his family:

Sunday, March 26 | Dr. Lincoln's Final Sunday

There will be a reception Sunday afternoon in the Gathering Place, 3-6pm.

Sunday, April 9 | George Wright comes in view of a call

Pastor Wright will preach in both services, and we will have a church vote to call him as our new pastor.

Saturday, April 15 & Sunday, April 16 | Pastor Wright's First Weekend

Pastor Wright will preach in all 4 Easter weekend services.

Thank you for your prayers on our behalf over this 2-year journey! We have felt them, and we believe God has heard and answered them.

God bless,

Mark Hood
Transition Team Chairman
